During the study of traditional Russian pearl embroidery techniques, I’ve created a range of samples with representing either a traditional motif or being the of national costume. I’ve aimed not only to explore techniques through repeating an ancient pattern but also sought the opportunity to adapt the embroidery to current reality. Thus, I applied traditional motifs to such objects as tote bag or brooch and found a new meaning for costume’s elements (the headpiece accessory became a belt charm).
Additionally, I’ve sewn several looks for each object to show how I might fit traditional elements to daily life fashion.
