In June 2024, I exhibited five hand-embroidered artworks at the HelvetArt Art Fair at The Roseate Reading in Reading, Berkshire. The fair brought artists and visitors together over two days to see original work in person.
The works I presented were
- Lady Slipper Black
- Lady Slipper Blue and White
- Simple Words: Love
- Transparence and Justice
- Hummingbird Spreading Wings
Together, they offered visitors a view of the different subjects I explore through hand embroidery and textile art, from botanical forms and birds to words and more conceptual pieces.
Seeing embroidery in person reveals details that photographs can miss: the texture of the stitches, the way materials catch the light and how each piece changes as you move around it. The fair was an opportunity to present these works as wall art and speak with visitors about the ideas and handwork behind them.
I also spoke about my work in an interview at the fair. You can watch the short interview here.
The HelvetArt Art Fair took place on 29–30 June 2024 at The Roseate Reading, 26 The Forbury, Reading, Berkshire RG1 3EJ.
