Parisian Couture - hand embroidery wall panel by artist Ksenia Semirova

This May, Hove-based textile artist Ksenia Semirova will be part of the Brighton & Hove Artists Open Houses Festival 2025, showcasing her contemporary embroidery work at the beautifully curated Villa LVI open house.

Textile artist in Hove Ksenia Semirova is known for her detailed, research-led approach to textile art. She creates embroidered works that range from framed compositions to wearable pieces. Her practice draws on personal and cultural themes, exploring symbolism, structure, and contrast through embroidery. For this year’s Open Houses, visitors will be able to see her striking large-scale piece Parisian Couture, which combines historical references with bold, visual storytelling.

Alongside this work, Ksenia will also be showing selected pieces from her Hummingbirds Spreading Wings series — embroidered works that blur the line between art object and accessory. A small selection of textile jewellery and contemporary accessories will also be available to view and purchase. Each item reflects her commitment to craftsmanship, adapted techniques, and meaningful design.

The Brighton Artists Open Houses Festival is one of the UK’s most vibrant open studio events, with artists and makers across the city opening their doors to the public. Villa LVI is a popular stop on the Hove trail, bringing together a carefully chosen group of artists and designers working across various disciplines.
