Project Description

Hope. It is what I live by, and I believe I'm not alone. So many people today are hoping for positive changes. These days, many individuals hope that their lives can finally be calm and peaceful. Their hope is pure and just. It is really hard to remain on the sidelines and not share their hope.

This artwork represents my hope - it's shiny, creative, a bit surprising, and fragile.

Simple Words

The current state of affairs is undeniably bleak, with an overwhelming amount of hatred, disasters, and pain. In light of this, there is a pressing need for something different, something that can offer solace and respite from the negativity.
This series of works endeavors to bring forth a counterbalance - something simple, yet profoundly essential:

Love, Hope, Faith, and Peace.

By focusing on these fundamental aspects of human existence, the aim is to provide a glimmer of positivity amidst the chaos, reminding people of the enduring values that uplift and unite.

Trapunto

Although not traditional, a customized Trapunto technique was employed to add depth to the lettering composition. To create a voluminous effect, a combination of jersey fabric, wadding, and cotton yarns were skillfully incorporated. This unique approach resulted in a visually striking outcome, enhancing the overall texture and dimension of the piece.

Goldwork

Goldwork techniques were utilized to complete the lettering composition. Vintage Japanese flat yarn was mixed with delicate viscose thread, resulting in a sophisticated green-copper hue. The composition was further enhanced with the addition of French wire and green-grey beads.

Unexpected Materials

Raffia, as the primary material for the background, and chain, as a contouring finish, are two materials that I rarely get to use in my practice. However, this project provided the perfect opportunity for experimentation.

Simple Words: Hope

30x43 cm wall panel

This work presents Hope as a direct and personal statement. The raised lettering is stitched in vintage flat yarn and viscose thread, creating a muted green-copper shine across the surface. The background is densely filled with raffia — natural, irregular, and fragile — introducing a material contrast that mirrors the tension between resilience and uncertainty.

The composition reflects a belief that hope is not abstract or decorative, but real and shared: a need for peace, calm, and fairness that many hold onto. This piece is not a symbol — it’s a position, made visible in thread.
