Transparency and Justice

Project Description
"Faith" of the Simple Words series.
The next work of my new project that combines lettering and hand embroidery.
In my opinion, faith manifests in various forms. For some, it entails worship and devotion, while for others, it revolves around principles and opinions. This work serves as my personal interpretation of faith, wherein I perceive it as one of the last notions that keeps people motivated and moving forward. The belief in goodness and justice, though it may appear immature to some, is what seems to be lacking in today's world. It is the foundation of basic and simple values that can restore harmony and balance. Faith, in this sense, allows to understand ourselves better and recognize the impact we have on others.

Simple Words
The current state of affairs is undeniably bleak, with an overwhelming amount of hatred, disasters, and pain. In light of this, there is a pressing need for something different, something that can offer solace and respite from the negativity.
This series of works endeavors to bring forth a counterbalance - something simple, yet profoundly essential:
Love, Hope, Faith, and Peace.
By focusing on these fundamental aspects of human existence, the aim is to provide a glimmer of positivity amidst the chaos, reminding people of the enduring values that uplift and unite.

Hand Lettering
Sketched and further refined in Adobe Illustrator, the hand-lettering composition represents contemporary vyaz - Cyrillic calligraphy. The effect of continuous ornamentation is enhanced with a decorative frame.
For this artwork, I've experimented with contemporary vyaz (Cyrillic calligraphy) lettering style.

Contemporary Goldwork
The lettering composition was created using the contemporary Goldwork technique, while still maintaining a traditional approach. No metallic thread was used; instead, a combination of cotton and synthetic threads was utilized to achieve a smooth yet slightly sparkly texture for the letters.
Luneville Embroidery
The Luneville (or tambour) technique is responsible for creating the background. The effect of a brushed metal surface, resembling a shield, was achieved by using a combination of various blue tints of Madeira threads.

Simple Words: Faith
30x30 cm wall panel
The word Faith is stitched in raised white cotton lettering, hand-padded and outlined with small silver beads that trace each contour. The background is densely filled with blue sequins, creating a deep, light-catching surface that shifts with movement.
This piece reflects faith not as religious doctrine, but as a personal belief in justice, balance, and the quiet insistence on holding onto something meaningful — especially when it’s difficult to do so.
