Who Is This Workshop For?

This is a private learning experience for people who want to work one-to-one and spend time understanding how Luneville embroidery works in practice.

What You’ll Learn

In this private session, the focus is on getting comfortable with the technique and understanding how it behaves in real use

Getting familiar with tools and materials

Setting up your fabric on a frame

Learning how the tambour hook works

Working with threads, sequins, and beads

Following a motif and understanding common difficulties as they appear

This is an intensive, hands-on session. The time is fully dedicated to working with the technique, with continuous practice and guidance throughout the day.

What you will create

Your Monogram

You’ll begin with simple lines and shapes to get used to the movement of the hook and how the stitch behaves on fabric. This stage helps you understand rhythm, direction, and thread tension.

The main outcome is a gothic-style monogram stitched using tambour and Luneville techniques. This lettering style is chosen deliberately: it offers clear forms, changes of direction, and enough variation to explore the technique in a meaningful way.

Why Choose Private Tuition?

Why Choose Private Tuition?

Why Choose Private Tuition?

Private tuition offers space to work at your own pace and focus on the parts of the technique that matter most to you.

There’s time to ask questions, try things out, and return to anything that feels unclear — without the pressure of a group setting.

This format works well for people who want to spend time with the technique and explore how it fits into their creative or professional practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. You’ll be the only student, and the time is fully dedicated to you

No. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience.

The workshop is designed as a full two-day experience for a reason. Luneville embroidery requires time to understand the technique and start building real skill. One day is not enough to cover the practical work in a meaningful way. If you’re only interested in learning more about the process, I can offer a one-day lecture-style session—but it won’t provide hands-on training.

Yes! If you prefer to start with online learning, I offer beginner-friendly embroidery courses on embellishment.design. These include step-by-step video lessons and access to a Q&A area for support.

Probably not. This tuition is designed for people who want time with the technique rather than a quick introduction. If you’re looking for a brief taster, a group workshop may be a better fit.

No. At the moment, this location is set up specifically for one-to-one tuition, which allows focused work.

For organisations, schools, or events, I can offer demonstrations or introductory talks by arrangement.
