On Saturday 10th May 2025, I’ll be taking part in SDC Celebrates: Discovering Your Process, a one-day event organised by the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
Hosted at The Art Workers’ Guild in London, the event brings together a group of makers to share what actually goes into their work — not just the finished piece, but the thinking, methods, and practical decisions behind it.
Throughout the day, I’ll be giving a live Luneville embroidery demonstration — showing how the stitch is made with a tambour hook, how the materials behave, and what the setup actually looks like. If you’ve ever wondered how this technique works in practice (beyond the polished final result), this is a good chance to see it up close and ask questions.
The programme also includes talks from four invited SDC members working in different disciplines: Emma Rosa MSDC, Greg Kent, Kate Pasvol, and Ali Holloway MSDC. Each will speak about their creative process — how their work has developed over time and the ideas that shape what they make.
There will also be a designer craft showcase in the Guild Hall, offering a closer look at work from across the Society.
Tickets include lunch and refreshments and must be booked in advance:
- £10 for SDC members
- £18 for non-members
