Ksenia Semirova hand embroidery artist

From 20 to 27 September 2025, textile artist and educator Ksenia Semirova will lead a live online Luneville embroidery workshop for members of the Surface Design Association (SDA).

The focus will be on Luneville embroidery — a technique developed in 19th-century France and still used in contemporary fashion and textile design.

Participants will learn how to prepare the embroidery frame, use the tambour hook correctly, and form the chain stitch that defines this method. The workshop is structured to build practical understanding from the ground up, allowing attendees to apply the technique confidently in their own work.

SDA Workshops 2025 is a curated programme of live online sessions taught by practicing textile artists. From stitch and embellishment to dyeing and mixed media, the lineup reflects a wide range of approaches to surface design. All workshops are open to SDA members and provide focused, skills-based learning.
